Identifying and assessing the causes of self-immolation among conscripts of NAJA with respect to criminological theories
the research tries to explain the causes of the phenomena of self-immolation among conscripts in NAJA with regard to criminological theories; therefore the study uses the theory of criminal etiology of and criminal dynamics theory to explain the causes of the occurrence of this phenomenon. The study is an applied research and uses descriptive methods to collect data. The population of the study consisted of NAJA’s experts and elites in research field. The sample size of 214 was calculated by Cochran Formula. Questionnaire was used as the main data collection instrument which was constructed by the researcher on the basis of Likert Scale. The questionnaire had three dimensions including inter-organizational and intra-organizational factors affecting suicide and also factors affecting self-immolation. The results indicated that according to criminological theories, the factors such as inter-personal communications and intrinsic and extrinsic individual characteristics play an important role in self-immolation. Some of these factors are related to Inter-organizational and some to Intra-organizational aspects. According to the results, while intrinsic characteristics as the intra-organizational factors are effective in committing self-immolation, the inter-personal communication factors and the extrinsic individual characteristics as facilitative and incentive inter-organizational factors are more effective in committing self-immolation. Hence, the priority of some has an effect on taking preventive measures and early output in controlling and reduction of self-immolation phenomenon among conscripts.
