The present research was a semi-experimental research which was conducted by pretest-posttest with control group method. The research population included all the couples visiting Roha counseling and psychotherapy center in Bojnourd city in 2019. Among the qualified couples for participation in the study, 20 couples with highest levels of couple burnout based on the initialscreening were selected by available sampling method, and they were randomly assigned into experiment and control groups. Pains couple burnout questionnaire (1998) was the data gathering tool in the study which was completed by the couples in pretest and posttest stages. The training program (couple communication program) was delivered to the subjects of the experiment group in ten 1.5-hour group sessions. The subjects of the control group were put in the waiting list. The data were analyzed by univariate covariance analysis (ANCOVA).
Results of covariance analysis indicated that couple burnout of the experiment group was reduced in the posttest stage. No significant change was observed in the control group.
Since training of couple communication program was effective on reducing couple burnout, it is recommended that this marital life enrichment program, would be used in training workshops, couple therapy groups and family counseling centers for the purpose of improving communication and increasing marital intimacy in couples.
