Abstract:
Scour is in fact the displacement of particles by flow from their initial location to another location. The phenomenon of scour around hydraulic structures is one of the main causes of their destruction and causes huge financial losses worldwide every year. Most of the studies have been carried out in different laboratory conditions on sandy bed and for scour equilibrium conditions and application of these relationships to natural sea conditions has uncertainties in estimating scour value. Obviously, it is not appropriate to use a method without regard to the conditions governing it. In many cases, physical models and numerical methods can also be used to estimate the scour depth. In the present study, the scour profiles are investigated by numerical model. One of the most important goals of this research is to provide a model and plan for prevention, control and optimization of scours in marine structures, especially breakwater and docks. Investigating different factors of scour intensification and ways to reduce its impact is one of the most important goals of this study.
