A STUDY OF THE CO-ORDINATION BETWEEN THE QURANIC ENCYCLOPEDIA OF LEIDEN AND SUNNI INTERPRETATIONS

One aspect of the Prophet's governmental behavior is how the Prophet (s.a.a) interacted with the captives. By examining the interpretative works of Sunni scholars and Orientalists on the subject of the Prophet's personality, one can extract certain views that can be compared harmonically to facilitate the evaluation and completion of interpretative ideas. In this way, the criticable perspective will be recognized and removed. Significant co-ordination is visible between the two collections of Sunni scholars' interpretations, and in particular the Qur'anic Encyclopedia of Leiden. The main question is, what are the aspects of the co-ordination between Orientalists’ criticable views and Sunni interpretative sources about the Prophet's treatment of the captives? In response to that, the method of description, analysis, and criticism, and also narrative and interpretive methods have been applied.The findings of the study suggest that interpretative quotations, in line with the theological and jurisprudential foundations of some Sunnis and the weak traditions are the sorce of orientalists’ inappropriate comments about the Prophet (p.b.u.h). Neglecting the sources and teachings of the Ahlul-Bayt (a.s) also has created slips in the portrait of the Prophet in the encyclopedia's articles.
