Comparing self-compassion, mental vitality and mindfulness in the mothers of the children with rheumatism and the mothers of normal ones
The purpose of this study was to compare self-compassion, mental vitality and mindfulness of mothers of children with rheumatism and mothers of normal children in Tehran. The research method of the present study was descriptive-causal comparative. The statistical population of the present study included all the mothers of children with rheumatism and the mothers of normal ones in the city of Tehran in 2017. Non-probable available sampling method was used in the present study in a way that 50 children with rheumatism were selected from those referring to Rheumatism treatment centers in Tehran and so were 50 children from healthy ones present in recreation centers through available method and the research questionnaires were given to their mothers. The applied questionnaires in the present study included mindfulness skills questionnaire (Bayer, Smith and Allen, 2004), self-compassion questionnaire (Riss et.al, 2011) and state mental vitality scale (Ryan and Fredrick, 1997). The data were analyzed through ANOVA method via SPSS23 software. The results showed that self-compassion, mental vitality and mindfulness are significantly different between two groups of the mothers of the children with rheumatism and the mothers of normal ones (P<0.001) According to the findings of the present study, mothers of the children with rheumatism have lower self-compassion, mental vitality and mindfulness due to therapeutic and time involvement with vulnerable children.
