The Drought’s Effects of Urmiyeh Lake on Natural and Human Disasters/Vulnerability of Peripheral Area
Climate change and warming are the most important human problems in recent decades. As these changes have had direct and indirect impacts on human life. Environmental crises in Iran, including rainfall shortages, drying of rivers, wetlands and lakes, have caused natural and human hazards and vulnerabilities. In the meantime, drying the Urmia Lake as a national crisis can play an important role in creating natural and human health problems. In this paper, the effects of drought on Urmia Lake on the natural and human hazards and periphery of the area are investigated. The research method is descriptive-analytic. Research data from organizations and related centers collected by GIS software has been analyzed. The results and projections of this study show that with regard to the residence of more than 3 million people around the Lake Urmia, the existence of gardens, agricultural land and various species of animals and plants, in the event of a complete dryness of the lake, habitat and environmental health In this area, there will be serious problems, and the loss of vital food supplies will lead to ethnic and social stress in the region.
