The developed of educational handicapping model
pressures during this period, so the purpose of this study was to develop and test a model of the relationship between coping styles and academic self handicapping with the mediating role of resilience and hope.
The method of this descriptive-correlational study was structural equation modeling. The statistical population of this study consisted of all male and female high school students in Kamyaran city in the academic year 1396-1397. 330 students were selected by cluster random sampling based on the Müller's rule. Academic self-handicapping scales, academic resiliency, Schneider Hope Questionnaire and Lazarus Coping Strategies Scale were used for data collection.
The results showed that the effect of coping styles on hope and resilience was positive and significant. Also, the direct effect of coping styles on self-handicapping was negative and significant. The effect of resilience on self-handicapping and hopefully on self-handicapping was negative and significant. The results of this study indicate the importance of coping resources in reducing self-handicapping and increasing academic achievement.
