The Problem-Based Approach in Religious Social Science

Different approaches have been proposed in Islamic humanities andespecially in religious social science. The problem-based approach, whichfollows the more general inferential approach, has been considered forabout a century and a half, but no serious, independent theoreticaldiscussions have been made about it. The current paper seeks tointroduce and explain this approach using a rational analytical methodand in some cases by the meta-analysis of the works which is related tothis approach. The findings suggest that this pragmatic approach, whichseeks to understand the objective or theoretical social problems existingin Islamic society, can create a new space in social science by using thegeneral method of speech in understanding religious texts and bydeveloping conventional methods in religious sciences and then quicklymeet some of the needs that have been posed.
