HaIn-Hell Torment with or without Cease (The Assessment of Hakim Taleqani’s Objections to Theosophers)

The in-hell torment without cease (eternity in Hellfire) is one of the significant issues of philosophy and mysticism drawn the attention of many Muslim thinkers. From among them, Mulla Na’ima Taleqani is one of the proponents of in-hell eternal torment. He has examined some arguments of the proponents of the cease of in-hell torment, none of which he accepted. He holds that the cease of in-hell torment is ill-founded. He argues that this view is contrary to the unanimous agreement of the earliest Muslims and incompatible with the literal meaning of the Qur'an. He adds that the in-hell eternal torment does not oppose divine wisdom. In their examination of Taleqani’s all objections here, the authors have demonstrated that those objections are not valid, some of which come from Taleqani’s failure in precise understanding of the arguments advanced on the issue. According to Taleqani’s ill-founded objections, one can -analytically and comparatively- say that theosophers and mystics’ arguments over the cease of in-hell torment are valid and rationally plausible.
