Survey of the Effects of Compassion Focused Therapy on Reduction of ADHD Symptoms
Compassion focused therapy, created by P.Gilbert and colleagues, is new and integrated, coming from the third wave behavior treatment which is mainly based on developed concepts and mindfulness methods for psychotherapy. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of compassion based training on reduction of ADHD symptoms. The participants of this study are two 35-year-old women and a 33-year-old one. All of them are married, who are researched by clinical interview and introduction of their children by psychiatrist to compassion focused therapy. In this study, SNAP-IV questionnaire by single subject case with A-B plan were used. The baseline was consisted three sessions, the intervention was consisted of fifteen sessions (7 two hour sessions and 1 an hour session for third case) and two follow up sessions were applied, (two weeks and four weeks after the fifteenth session). The findings of this study based on the visual analyses indicators and descriptive statistics showed that in the follow up phase compared to the baseline, the intervention was effective in reduction of oppositional defiant and somehow hyperactivity and impulsivity of the children with ADHD.
