Indexing and Measuring the Social Capital of Police Officers' Families(Case Study: East Tehran Police Command Staff)
The present study, considering the significant role of family social capital, has been used to measure and index the family social capital of police officers.
The main approach in this quantitative study was a survey and its statistical population included all law enforcement officers of East Tehran Province. 139 people were selected through random sampling and questionnaire with regard to two dimensions of social capital inside and outside the family and with emphasis on job background. Validity of the instrument by concurrent validity and high Cronbach's alpha coefficient (70%) indicated that the reliability of the research instrument was desirable. Based on the findings of the study, seven indicators were used to measure the social capital of the family of police officers: job perspective, social relationships, supervision, awareness and knowledge, family support, interaction between family members and family expectations. The results also show that the external social capital of the family is less important than the social capital within the police families, and therefore, the external dimension of social capital in police environments should be considered as in-house and inter-organizational think-tanks. It provided comprehensive planning by the Human Resources Department.
