A Review of Patients’ Safety in Intensive Care Units in Hospitals in Iran
one of the important rights of the patient is preserving patient safety and providing safe care in various aspects in health system of the countries. The purpose of this study is to conduct a comprehensive overview of the research conducted on the safe care provided to the Patients admitted in the intensive care unit of hospitals in Iran.
The study is a narrative review that was conducted through searching Persian and English articles in scientific databases such as Magiran, SID, Science Direct and Pub Med, as well as searching for library resources published between 2007 and 2017.
The performance of nurses in the intensive care unit of hospitals in Iran has been moderate to poor. Most important unsafe care in some studies is Medication errors, infections, bed sores, pain management and improper use of medical equipment.
Regarding the unsatisfactory level of nurses in preventing bed sores, infection, pain management, improper use of medical equipment and Medication errors, there should be some guidelines for providing practical training, as well as enhancing transparency and encouraging nurses to mitigate these problems.
