The effectiveness of Melissa officinalis and Lavandula angustifolia in Anxiety of Oil Company Employees
The current study was conducted aimed at investigating the effectiveness Melissa officinalis and Lavandula angustifolia in anxiety of Oil Company employees in Sabzevar. 45 subjects (6 females and 39 males in the age group of 30 to 45 years) with a high level of anxiety were selected through purposive sampling method and were randomly assigned into 3 groups of 15 people, including two experimental groups (Melissa officinalis and Lavandula angustifolia) and one control group. Members of the experimental groups consumed 5 drops from the concentrated extract of these two herbs (manufactured by Zardband Pharmaceutical Company) twice a day for 5 days, which were orally prescribed. 15 subjects in the control group did not take any medication. The three groups were evaluated in two stages of pretest-posttest to determine the level of anxiety using Beck Anxiety Test.Results of the present research indicated that both herbs (Melissa officinalis and Lavandula angustifolia) reduce the employees’ anxiety (P
