Comparing the Effectiveness of Behavioral Activation Treatment with Anger Management on the Identity Crisis of Patients with Multiple Sclerosis
The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of behavioral activation group training and anger management group training with cognitive-behavioral approach on the identity crisis of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test using a control group. Among the statistical population, which included all female patients with MS who were members of the Karaj City MS Association, 45 people were selected by available sampling method and randomly divided into three groups of 15 people. Experimental group one underwent behavioral activation group training in 10 90-minute sessions and experimental group two underwent anger management training in 8 90-minute sessions, and the control group did not receive any intervention. The research tool was Identity Crisis Questionnaire.
The results of covariance analysis showed that group training of behavioral activation and group training of anger management with cognitive-behavioral approach reduce the identity crisis of patients with MS. Given the effectiveness of the training, it can be said that teaching these skills to MS patients can be effective in reducing many of their problems, and their use is essential in improving health and creating a positive attitude in patients' lives.
