The Relationship between Parenting Stress with Physical Activity Level and Motor proficiency of Preschool Children with High and Low Socioeconomic Status

Parental stress is a family-related environmental variable that may impede different aspects of child development. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parenting stress with physical activity level and Motor proficiency in preschool children with high and low socioeconomic status. For this purpose, 119 children 6-year-old were randomly selected from district 4 of Tehran. Data were collected using Power Socioeconomic Status Questionnaire, Parenting Questionnaire (PSI-SF), Amron Pedometer, and Broninks-Osortsky-2 Functionality Test. Finally, data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test. Results showed a significant relationship between parental stress and physical activity level in low socioeconomic status (P = 0.023) and motor skill in high and low socioeconomic status (P <0.001), but There was no significant difference between parenting stress and level of physical activity in high socioeconomic status (P = 0/296).  According to the results, parenting stress is a variable that affects the level of physical activity and motor skill, but in relation to its interaction with socioeconomic status, other variables need to be considered simultaneously.
