Media Policy of PRESS TV in Representation of Iran for English Language Audiences (Case Study: IRAN Program)

Abstract:
The IRI Press TV channel established by Islamic Republic of Iran, which is the most important media to communicate with English language audiences worldwide, needs professional and knowledge based policy frameworks.  The subject of this article is the process of policy making in Press TV regarding the representation of Iran's image for international audiences. The importance of the Image of Iran is clear based on Islamic republic vision to counter with the negative representation of Iran in Western Media’s main stream. This article is based on two methods of data gathering, Qualitative content analysis of "IRAN program"(the most viewed documentary about Iran in Press TV) and semi structured interview with the high level officials and managers of the Press TV. At last by analyzing the information achieved by the policy making model and considering the weak points and problems detected , a series of suggestions are presented in order to improve the process of policy making in the subject of representing Iran's Image
