Investigating the Relationship between Usage of information technology (Mobile, Internet, Instagram and Telegram) with the depression of the Maku Free Zone students
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the use of information technology communication devices (mobile phones, Internet, Instagram and Telegram) with depression in students in the Mako Free Zone.
The present study was of correlational type and applied according to the purpose. The statistical population of the study consisted of adolescent students aged 17 to 18 years, of whom 265 were randomly selected according to Morgan's table. To collect data from questionnaires, harmful use of mobile phones, Jenaar et al. (2007) with 6 items; use of the Internet; Yang (1998) with 3 items; adolescent depression; Kotcher (2002) with 6 items The researcher-made questionnaire was used to measure the use of social networks with 6 items, in the form of a Likert scale and five options. Data analysis was also performed using Smart PLS structural equation modeling method.
The findings showed that there was a direct and significant relationship between the use of information technology communication tools (mobile, Internet, Instagram and Telegram) and depression in adolescents in the Mako Free Zone (P <0.001).
The use of the Internet, mobile phones and virtual networks, due to the false attractions it creates for users, causes the loss of face-to-face communication and causes people to become introverted. In this way, people gradually avoid direct communication. It ultimately causes depression and loneliness.
