The Analysis of Intellection and Imagination in Transcendent and Immanent World view of Ibn Arabi
The principle of Monotheism and its related issues are among pivotal issues in our Islamic Thought System, in a way that a correct understanding and reception of Ouranic Verses in this case has always preoccupied the minds of Muslim thinkers. In the world of Kalam and Philosophical thought, intellection is known as the most useful perceptive power in order to understand and perceive the monotheistic world view. The orientation of the intellectual attempts has been led to the transcendence, Supremeness and sublimation of God on the world and his creations. Such a result is the nature of the intellectual power and the principle of God's transcendence is considered as half of a correct knowledge of monotheism. On the other hand, however, there remains some unanswered questions on the connection between God and the world. This deficiency has made a great deal of Muslim thinkers in the fields of Kalam, Philosophy, and Mysticism to work on the issue. Ibn Arabi, as a great mystic and a leading thinker completed the other half of monotheistic world view by sketching a monotheistic world view based on immanence. By introducing and elaborating on the power of imagination next to the power of intellection in his works and functions of intellection and imagination in the forming of a monotheistic world view, he completed the puzzle of knowledge in accordance with the perspective of pantheism. It has been attempted in this study to introduce each of the two powers, describe the connection between the transcendent and immanent perspective and to consider the function of mixed perspective of transcendence and immanence in having a correct understanding the world, the how of its connection thereof with the almighty God and also the having a correct perception of Ouranic Verses.
