An application of structural equation modeling to examine the relationship between driving behavior, personality traits and driver attitude

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between personality traits, driver attitudes Iranian drivers who have attempted overtaking 300 and driving behavior in a sample of maneuver on two-lane roads using structural equation modeling. Another goal of the study is to determine the moderator role of overtaking type.Since data collection in this research was very time-consuming and costly, five main suburban roads in the provinces of East Azerbaijan and zanjan were considered as the physical area of the study In September and October of year the questionnaire of this study have made up of several parts. The first part contains a .2014 description of the research being done. The second part includes questions related to personality traits. The third part includes questions related to the driver attitude and The fourth section contains questions related to driving behavior (DBQ). Results showed that the structural model fit is acceptable. The driver attitude was identified as a mediator between personality factors and driving behavior. also results indicated that overtaking type as a .moderator variable in personality traits
