Nursing Care from the Human Caring Theory Lens in a Female Breast Cancer Patient: A Care Case Study

 There has been a growing cancer rate over the past years, and cancer patients require conscious care and measures that indicate physical and psychological care. This was a care case study performed on a female breast cancer patient based on Watson's model of human care.

 This was a care case study performed on a patient with stage three breast cancer using Watson's model of human care and the Caritas care process in three stages. In the research, semi-structured interviews were conducted to identify the patient’s needs and problems. Moreover, data analysis was performed applying the content analysis method with the inductive approach.

The needs and problems pointed out by the patient were considerably modified using Watson's model of human care and interventions such as social support, spiritual support, energy therapy, and yoga.

A holistic nursing performance based on the theory of human care in patients with cancer requires integrated, creative, respectful, and reassuring care that takes spiritual aspects and all human dimensions into account. This goal can be met through energy therapy, psychological counseling, and participation in support and peer groups.
