Myth of Jamshid and the Myths of Other Nations
Jamshid, the son of Tahmuras in Shahnameh, is the most glorious king in the Iranian national narratives during whose era the major events happened for shaping the civilization of Iran. The stories and narratives about Jamshid myth (such as the construction of Var-e Jamkard, passing the myth of the storm, the healing power, rebirth as the god of the land of the dead, ascending to the sky, and communicating with the sun) have similarities to the stories and narratives of other nations. This paper, after reviewing the Indo-Iranian myth of Jamshid, narrates some similar narratives of other nations and their effect on each other. The result is that, in many cases, the myth of Jamshid has been a model for myths in other ancient civilizations, and in some cases, common human ideals or archetypes led to the creation of similar heroes.
