Determining the Relationship between School Environment with Risky Behaviors and Addiction among High School Students
Understanding risky behaviors of teenagers as a prerequisite, not as deviant behavior, is essential. The present study was aimed to finding the possible relationship between school environment with risky behaviors and addiction among high school students.
This study was a correlational research project contributing all high school students in the academic year of 2018-2019 in Zahedan city. Participant were selected from a sample size by multi-stage cluster method using Cochran's formula. Data collected via Alfred et al.'s (2004) classroom and school environment, the risk of Iranian adolescents (2011), and addiction predisposition (1991) questionnaires over a three-week period and then analyzed using correlation coefficient and linear regression tests in Spss software.
There was a positive and significant relationship between classroom and school environment with high-risk behaviors (r=0.20) at 95% confidence level. There was also a significant relationship between addiction talent and classroom environment (p=0.23) at 95% confidence level.
Preventing high-risk behaviors is always easier, less expensive, and more effective than treating them. Therefore, securing school's environment can reduce the risk of risky behaviors in students.
