Study of Unethical Pro-Organizational Behaviors

Abstract:
Background

Most of today's organizations are witnessing the occurrence of all kinds of immoral behaviors with different motives. This research identifies those unethical behaviors that are intended to help the organization or its members.

Methods

The research method is qualitative and the strategy is narrative research. The population of the study includes middle managers of the governmental offices of Khorasan Razavi province. Fourteen managers from different organizations were selected through purposive non-probability sampling. The data were collected through interviews and thematic analysis method was used to reach the findings.

Results

The results showed that in seven areas including "budgets and credibility," "contracts and wages adjustment", "gaining and protecting prestige" "informing and reporting" "salaries and benefits", "promotion and upgrading" and "performance appraisal", the unethical pro-organizational behaviors occurs.

Conclusion

A variety of unethical behaviors occur in governmental organizations to profit the organization or its members, which can be costly for the organization in the long term.
