Improving the social status of women and increasing their role within the family affects their ideal, intended and actual fertility. In this study, using survey method and researcher-made questionnaire an attempt was made to investigate the relationship between power structure in the family and women’s fertility behavior in the city of Lar, Fars province. In order to do this, a total of 400 married women, using stratified random sampling were surveyed. The findings show that women’s ideal fertility (2.5 children per woman) is upper than replacement-level fertility and their actual fertility (1.8 children per woman) is less than replacement-level fertility. Regression analyses indicate that the power of women has a significant and negative relationship with ideal, intended and actual fertility. Continuing improvements in women’s social status, may have this expectation that power structure in the family continues to affect women’s reproductive behaviors in the future. Regarding the results of this study, it seems that population policies should follow realizing women’s ideal fertility.
