PREVALENCE OF RISK FACTORS FOR BREAST CANCER IN 30- 59 YEAR-OLD WOMEN IN COMPREHENSIVE RURAL HEALTH SERVICES IN SOMESARA COUNTY IN 2018

Breast cancer accounts for about one-third of all cancers in women, and after lung cancer, it is the most common cause of cancer death in women. Despite this, breast cancer has the highest incidence of all cancers. The incidence of this disease is increasing rapidly in many countries around the world. Some well-known etiological factors of cancer also play a role in the incidence of breast cancer. Epidemiological studies show important information about the risk factors for breast cancer.

The present study is a cross-sectional descriptive study in which 708 women were selected by a multi-stage random sampling method from women aged 30 to 59 years covered by Comprehensive Rural Health Centers of Somesara in 2018. They were evaluated for 22 proven breast cancer risk factors by the researcher. The results of the research were analyzed using SPSS20 software and descriptive statistical methods such as frequency and mean.

Of the 708 female participants, 707 (99.8%) had at least one risk factor for breast cancer and the highest risk factors were related to overweight and obesity with 603 cases (85.3%), adverse physical activity with 548 cases (77.6%), subsequent malnutrition with 373 cases (52.7%), and exposure to smokers with 172 cases (24.4%).

The results of the present study showed that most of the high-risk risk factors in women aged 30 to 59 years are related to lifestyle, which can be corrected by training and creating appropriate contexts and their negative effects can be moderated.
