Fiction in Ahmad Zaki Abu Shadi’s romantic poetry

Fiction is an extract of real or fictitious life events processed within the imaginative mind of the author or the poet. The author or the poet’s concentrated mind organizes these events and shares them with the reader through the narrative. In the contemporary period, fiction writing has become very popular, especially in poetry. Modern fiction writing in poetry deals with explaining the story and its relationship with the theme of the work i.e. feelings, thoughts, imaginations and dreams of the poet. Abu Shadi is one of the pioneers of romantic poetry in the Arab countries, especially in Egypt. He has played a great role in development and progress of contemporary Arabic poetry by establishment of Apollo’s Society. In the fiction of his Diwan, the role of the poet is clearly observed, because he mingles ideas, characters, and social as well as political facts with his beautiful descriptions. This survey, by the use of descriptive-analytical method, tries to explore how the elements of fiction have created order, continuation and arrangement of different parts in Zaki Abu Shadi’s romantic poetry. Research findings show that by placing the focus of narration on the important characters of his life and leaving the scene, Zaki uses narrative as a mediator so that by interpreting the poem, the readers can find out about it. In his writing, the strong points of his fiction are the focus on social and political subject matter with a descriptive, romantic and precise perspective about the status of the society.
