The Role of Geopolitical Indicators in the Security of Frontier Cities (Case Study of Gonbad Kawas)

In geopolitical literature, border security has always been the forefront of the country's internal security, and border cities have been influenced by the internal and external factors affecting the security of these areas. Regional geography of Turkmen has always been one of the most important border areas and as one of the special areas of the geopolitical At the national level has been in recent years because of problems related to the development, smuggling, inequality facilities and services, the challenges faced. Gonbad Kavous is one of the largest and most populous cities of Turkmen ethnicity, and considering the developments in this city, especially the natural, political and economic background of the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran against Turkmen ethnicity and the existence of transboundary threats, today This issue is more than necessary. The present study is a descriptive-analytical and applied research to evaluate the role of geopolitical indicators in security of border towns (Gonbad kavus city). Statistical population of this study was determined from all professors and experts in political science and geography of political science with sample size of 35 people. The results showed that natural factors threaten the security of northeast borders more than economic and political factors and also there is a direct relationship between geopolitical factors and border security but the intensity of these relationships varies in some variables.
