Design and Construction of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with High Efficiency and Low Torque Ripples for Evaporative Cooler
with respect to increasing usage of evaporative cooler in Iran and low efficiency of AC induction motor used in them, a large amount of energy is being lost. In this paper design procedure of three permanent magnet synchronous motors with the output power of 250W, 370W, 550W which are used in evaporative cooler with air delivery of 3000, 5000 and 7000 m3/h is presented and then simulation and experimental result is described. The most important criteria in the design procedure include: minimizing total cost, maximizing efficiency, reduction of torque ripples, simplifying the construction method, using the same lamination geometrically for three motors and having the ability to replace with AC induction motors in conventional coolers.
