Hydropolitical Analysis of the New Structure of International Relations (Case Study: Iran and Afghanistan)
The issues of water disputes in the foreign policy of countries against each other are among the factors that have affected the endangerment of national interests, and in this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran in recent decades has extensive hydropolitical disputes with its neighbors, especially Afghanistan. It has two rivers, Helmand and Harir. The aim of this study is to identify the most important hydropolitical factors for the development of international relations between Iran and Afghanistan and the impact of Afghanistan's hydropolitical measures on regional equations, especially its effects on the national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to the method, the present study is a descriptive-analytical research and in terms of purpose, it is a practical-developmental research, the sample size of which is estimated to be 40 statistical population of experts and professors of the relevant field. The results of the study showed that pollution of water resources, rerouting and encroachment on river water and their control against the Islamic Republic of Iran are among the most important stressful hydropolitical factors in the relations between the two countries. It will bring security, social and economic benefits to Iran.
