Abstract:

The collapse of the Soviet Union led to the secession of the South Caucasus region and the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. The presence of Jews living in Azerbaijan, its secular nature and the issues of the Islamic world created a good opportunity for Israel to expand its relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan according to the Ben-Gurion doctrine . Azerbaijan has also welcomed these relations because of its infancy to strengthen its foundations and also to gain Western support in the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis . This descriptive-analytical article seeks to answer the question of what are the factors and contexts of convergence of Azerbaijan and Israel, as well as its impact on the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran? Research findings show that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Israeli-Azerbaijani relations in the political, economic and military spheres were expanding. Azerbaijan's proximity to Iran and Israeli influence in this country can be a threat to Iran's national interests.
