The Impact of Group Consulting with Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy Approach on Social Skills of Female Students of Guidance Schools in Karaj City

One of the most valuable assets of human society is adolescent generation. They should master social skills in execution of complex personal and interpersonal actions of life. But many cases which are called communicative problems, in fact, are thinking difficulty.  This research is quasi experimental with presenting pre-test and post-test plan with experimental and control groups. The study was conducted in order to evaluate the impact of group consulting with rational-emotive behavior therapy approach on social skills of female students of guidance schools in district 1 of Karaj city in the academic year of 2011-2012.  For this purpose, 95 students were selected on random sampling method. Jones' Irrational Beliefs Questionnaire and social skills of adolescents were administered. After initial studies and scoring, 16 individuals who obtained higher scores in the first test and lower scores in social skills test were divided in two groups of experimental and control randomly. The experiment group participated in group consulting with rational-emotive approach for 10 sessions, and each session took 1.5 hours. After the completion of sessions, both groups were tested by post-test method. Then, the data were analyzed by using t-test. The results showed that counseling group with rational-emotive approach is effective in increasing the social skills of students.
