Investigating the Relationship between Coronary Artery Calcium Score and Framingham Cardiac Risk Factors with Blood Groups
Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in the world, and the main cause is atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries. One of the methods that has increased the predictability of heart attacks is to determine the calcium score of the coronary artery, which is a powerful visual biomarker for atherosclerosis. On the other hand, the antigen of ABO blood groups is located in the secretions and cell membranes of all cells of the body and increases the susceptibility of a number of diseases in the phenotypes of blood groups. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between the calcium score of coronary arteries and blood groups.
The study was a cross-sectional study in which the study population was patients who were referred to the radiology department by a cardiologist to perform a scan and determine the amount of calcium in the coronary artery. A checklist has been prepared for all patients in which the blood group and risk factors for formalin heart failure, including age, sex, blood pressure, cholesterol, HDL, diabetes, and smoking history, along with demographic information, were recorded. Finally, the recorded information was analyzed by descriptive method and comparison of means and correlation analysis in SPSS-20 statistical software.
Our results showed that there was no significant relationship between blood groups and coronary artery calcium score. But there is a significant association between the risk factors for formalin heart disease (gender, age, smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, high total cholesterol, and low HDL) with this index (P<0.05).
Coronary artery calcium scores have no significant relationship with the patientchr('39')s blood type. But the risk factors for formalin heart failure are significantly related to the calcium score of the coronary artery as a strong predictor of cardiovascular events.
