The purpose of the present study was to determine the effect of differences in dialectical behavior therapy with self-regulated coupling therapy on reducing the emotional divorce of couples exposed to divorce. The method of this study is quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design with control and two-month follow-up. The statistical population of this study consisted of all divorced couples who referred to Bahonar Branch Family Court in Tehran in 1397. 24 couples were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to three experimental (16 couples) and control (8 couples) groups .The experimental and control groups responded to the Gutman Emotional Divorce Scale in three stages of pre-test, post-test, and follow-up. Experimental groups received 8 sessions of training in dialectical behavior therapy and self-regulated couple therapy, but the control group did not receive any intervention. Data were analyzed using analysis of repeated measures variance and LSD test. The results showed that dialectical behavior therapy and self-regulated couple therapy significantly reduced emotional divorce compared to the control group(p < 0/001). However, the effect of dialectical behavior therapy on reducing emotional divorce was greater in divorced couples than in self-regulated couple therapy. The results of the experimental groups were also stable at the follow-up stage.
