Investigation of Educational Motivation and Its Related Factors of the students of Laboratory Sciences of the Eastern Medical Sciences Universities
Motivation is one of the key factors in learning and it can affect the various aspects of student behavior in the educational system. The aim of this study was to determine the academic motivation of the students of Laboratory Sciences of the Eastern Medical Sciences Universities in 2017.
This descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study was conducted on 334 Medical laboratory students studying at the universities of eastern medical sciences in Iran. For data collecting, Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) and a researcher-made questionnaire for related factors which validity and reliability were confirmed in previous studies have been used. Finally, the data were analyzed by SPSS software using descriptive and analytical statistics and t-test, one-way ANOVA and x2 tests.
The results showed that the mean age of the students was 20.53±1.57 years and the average studentchr(chr('39')39chr('39'))s motivation was 124.04±18.75 out of 189 points. Also, There was a significant difference (P<0.05) between the level of educational motivation and each level of welfare, educational and job prospects as well as the variables of age, sex, and university. Also there was a significant relation between extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation.
Regarding the results of the study and the relationship between academic motivation and related factors, as well as the average studentchr(chr('39')39chr('39'))s motivation, more attention should be paid to these factors to remove these obstacles and lead to increasing the studentschr(chr('39')39chr('39')) motivation for their growth and development.
