The effect of palliative care on the quality of life of cancer patients: A systematic review
Recently, palliative care has become more important in relation to the quality of life of cancer patients, and there are studies that determine the optimal quality of life for the patient and his family. The aim of this study is to systematically review the Effect of palliative care on the quality of life of cancer patients.
In this systematic review, we used keywords such as "Palliative", "Sedative", "Care", "Cancer", "Patient" and "Quality of Life "in reputable sites and databases such as SID, PubMed, Science Direct and Scopus between 2000 and 2016. Among the databases and searched sites, 755 articles were obtained, which 26 of them were used.
Providing palliative care for cancer patients of all ages is necessary to provide patient-centered care. In the present study, the early palliative care and the fact that palliative care should be started as soon as possible to maximize its benefits to patients and caregivers was reported as important issue.
Palliative care will lead to quick recovery, reduce the length of hospital stay, and reduce hospital and medical costs. It isnecessary to establish and strengthen supportive institutions, to create a culture of adaptation to the various problems of cancer patients, and to provide palliative care for these patients.
