The Effectiveness of Resilience Skills Training on Occupational Burnout among Nurses Working in Iranian Psychiatric Center in 2018
Flexibility is a set of skills that leads to new insights into future challenges. Flexibility is part of the factors that create and maintain physical and mental health and social growth in any environment and society, the health sector -due to direct contact with human health- is one of the most important areas of sustainable development of human society. Achieving this goal requires a healthy medical staff with high work motivation. Resilience skills are one of the intra-social skills that make a person flexible in difficult situations. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of resiliency training on burnout of nurses in Iran Psychiatric Training Center in 2018.
This interventional study was performed on 60 nurses working in psychiatry center of Iran with available sampling in two independent groups as pre-test and post-test with control group. After the pre-test, participants were randomly divided into control and intervention groups through demographic questionnaire and Maslesh burnout questionnaire. In 10sessions, they were trained once a week according to Conner and Davidson resiliency training protocol. Then data were collected by posttest. Frequency tables were used to analyze the descriptive data and independent t-test was used to analyze the quantitative data.
In this study, there was no significant difference in burnout between groups before the intervention. No significant difference was observed after the intervention, which showed that this intervention had no effect on the level of burnout (P <0.05).
depend on these results and despite previous studies, resiliency skills training may not have a significant effect on reducing burnout among nurses, but these trainings can be a strategy for health policy makers and planners
