Assessing Knowledge and Skill Level of Medical Practitioners at Ahwaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences regarding to Advanced Course of Trauma-Patient Care before and after Workshop in 1396-97
Due to the importance of proper treatment and approach to patients suffering from Trauma and the effects of proper treatment on the condition of these patients, this study was conducted to evaluate the awareness and skills of final year and pre-final students of Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences. This study was performed on fifty interns of the Acute Medicine Department of Ahwaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, who were introduced to Acute Medicine Department of University by the Educional department of Medicine School. This study was performed as pre- and post intervention to assess students' awareness and skills in dealing with Trauma patient. After analysis data, the results indicated that students showed better performance (P <0.001) in all areas after participating in the course. The mean score of the participants in the study before the required training was 2.17 ± 10.88 in the awareness section, which reached 2.18 ± 12.58 after the workshop that there was a significant difference (P <0.001), indeed. In particular, in the skill section, the mean score at the beginning of the study was 2.406 ± 11.40 which after training reached 1.607 ± 16.60; in fact, it was statistically significant (P <0.001). Moreover, the most progress was made in acquiring skills. On the other hand, the knowledge and skills of final-year and pre-final-year medical students in dealing with the traumatized patient were not appropriate, therefore, this educational problem should be solved by applying required educational programs such as the workshop in the present study.
