The Relationship between Personality Disorders and Demographic Characteristics (Age and Education Level) with Type of Crime in Women Prisoners in Urmia
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality disorders and demographic characteristics of educational level, age with type of crime in women prisoners in Urmia.
The present study was a descriptive correlational and predictive study. 124 women prisoners were selected from the community of women prisoners of Urmia voluntarily. All sample members completed the Millon Personality Disorders Questionnaire with demographic characteristics questions. The type of crime of prisoners was completed according to the criteria for determining the type of crime of Iranian prisoners. Data were analyzed using Chi-square, logistic regression, Pearson correlation, Spearman and Wald tests.
The results showed that there is a significant positive relationship between schizoid personality disorder and other crimes at the level of 0.01, a significant relationship between depressive personality disorder with homicide and other crimes at the level of 0.05, and a positive relationship between antisocial personality disorder and theft was significant at the 0.05 level and there was a significant positive relationship between the self- defeating personality disorder and other crimes at the 0.05 level. Among the predictor variables, the variables of antisocial personality disorder and self-defeating variables predict the criterion of crime type at 0.01 level. The results also confirmed the association between some personality disorders and demographic characteristics with crime type.
Identifying the variables associated with the type of female inmate crime can provide important information in the area of female prisoner dogma.
