Investigating the Relationship between Religious Identity and Coping Styles with Marital Satisfaction - Case study: Ilami Couples
Marital satisfaction has been influenced by several factors that have been addressed in different perspectives. The main aim of the current study is to investigate the religious identity and coping styles with marital satisfaction among Ilami couples.
The population of the study encompasses all Ilami couples Who Their number is estimated at approximately 84,000,of whom 384 couples were selected as the sample size based on Cochran formula. For collecting the data, the Enrich Marital Satisfaction Inventory-short form, Lotfabadi’s religious identity questionnaire, and Endler and Parker Coping Inventory were used.
The findings of the study reveal that the prior option of the participants was task-oriented coping with the average of 56.8, while the emotion-oriented and avoidance-oriented coping came second and third, respectively. The obtained results from data analysis show that the degree of marital satisfaction varies according to gender and place of birth. Furthermore, there was a positive and meaningful relationship between the age, the number of children, and task-oriented coping with marital satisfaction; however, the relationship between emotion- and avoidance-oriented coping with marital satisfaction was not meaningful. The results of multi variable regression indicated that approximately 35% of the total variation of marital satisfaction variable was depended on task-oriented coping, emotion-oriented coping, age, and religious identity.
The study confirms the conclusion that there is a relationship among coping styles, religious identity, and marital satisfaction.
