The Study of Psychological Relationship between the level of Religiosity and Doping Susceptibility among Bodybuilding Athletes
Due to the advertising of new technologies for the use of biochemical resources to enhance muscle mass, doping is interwoven with the development of modernized organized sport. Different field, such as history, sociology, and psychology examined the doping with their theoretical methods and frameworks. The present study was done to investigate the psychological relationship between the level of religiosity and the doping susceptibility among the Bodybuilding athletes of the Ilam city.
Method and Materials:
This descriptive-correlational study was performed on the statistical population of all male athletes referring to the Ilam health clubs in 2018. In this study 120 athletes were selected as sample by the available sampling method. The data were collected using a Santa Clara strength of religious faith questionnaire and doping susceptibility questionnaire . To investigate the relationship between religious faith and doping susceptibility, Pearson correlation coefficient was used by SPSS software.
The results showed a significant negative relationship between religious beliefs and doping susceptibility (P<0.05).
The more cognitive beliefs toward religion may reduce the tendency to doping behaviors in athletes. This issue could be considered as an important finding about the health of athletes.
