Investigating the Effects of Drug Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Mental Health and Reducing the Psychological Pressure of Women with Blood Pressure
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of pharmacotherapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy on mental health and reduce the psychological pressure of women with hypertension in Kermanshah in 2009-2010. The present study is a quasi-experimental study of pretest, posttest and extended follow-up with the control group. In this plan, there are two experimental groups and one control group. Participants in the first experimental group received 8 sessions of cognitive-behavioral training and participants in the second experimental group received 8 sessions of pharmacotherapy and the control group did not undergo any interventions. Cognitive-behavioral and drug therapy approaches together increase mental health and reduce stress. The most important results of this study are the effectiveness and usefulness of using cognitive-behavioral and pharmacological approaches to improving mental health and lowering blood pressure. Blood pressure can be one of the main causes of mental health problems and can cause problems for patients with high blood pressure. Due to the role of cognitive-behavioral approach and drug treatment on improving mental health and stress, the use of team approach and the need for cooperation of blood pressure specialists and psychologists to improve the mental health of patients with major hypertension is recommended.
