Construction of discourse subject in Shadow of the Monster novel

Young adults’ novels are the field of power and penetration of discourses and perspectives that mostly operates by novelist. Adolescence concept could be define and redefine by socio-cultural context and this issue shows the importance of this study. Based on Foucault, subjects are constructing in power relations and discourses and finally discourse processes construct the subjects. Subject in Shadow of the Monster novel studied based on this fact. In this way, based on social semiotics, signs in the social context (speech acts and body) and contextual context (Linguistic, aesthetic and inter-textual signs) are studied separately. The study of these signs show that subject in this novel is a discourse one that constructs in the axis of discourses of Motherhood and Sacrifice and Femininity and submission. Adolescence subject in this novel mostly constructs in the discourses that are in the contradiction of Adolescence identity and can be lead the subjects towards an early (Femininity) adulthood.
