Comparison of the effectiveness of mindfulness based cognitive therapy and acupuncture on and sleep quality of professional athletes with physical injury
Various therapies have been used to treat psychological problems. Researchers are trying to identify more effective, cost-effective, and sustainable approaches and compare them to other therapies; Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of cognitive therapy based on mindfulness and acupuncture on the quality of sleep of professional athletes with physical injuries
The semi-experimental research method and the research design are pre-experimental, follow-up with experimental and control groups. The statistical population of the study consisted of all professional male athletes aged 20 to 25 years with physical and sports injuries in 1398. The statistical sample of the study was selected based on the input and output criteria of 33 people. The research instrument was the Petersburg Sleep Quality Questionnaire (PSQI). Data analysis was performed using descriptive and parametric inferential analytical analyzes such as ANOVA multiple analysis test, repeated measurement test and follow-up tests
The results showed that there is a significant difference in mindfulness between all tests (p <0.001), in the acupuncture group there is a significant difference between pre-test and post-test and between pre-test and follow-up (001). 0> p) But there was no significant difference between post-test and follow-up (p = 0.499).
It seems that both therapeutic approaches to mindfulness and acupuncture affect the quality of sleep, but mindfulness has more lasting effects over time than acupuncture in relation to sleep quality.
