Measuring the Effectiveness of Recitation and Translation of the Holy Quran in Improving the Recitation Skills and Translation Knowledge of Students of Amin Police University

Abstract:
Background and objectives

The course of recitation and translating the Holy Quran is one of the compulsory courses for all fields of study in Amin Police University, and measuring the effectiveness of this course in university planning is very important to improve students' recitation skills and translation knowledge. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of education in improving the recitation skills and translation knowledge of students at Amin Police University.

Methodology

This study is considered as an applied research with a quantitative approach and is a kind of quasi-experimental research that was done by pre-test and post-test made by the researcher. The validity of the instrument was measured and confirmed in the form of content validity ratio (CVR) and content validity index (CVI). Reliability was calculated by the formula of Kruder-Richardson, which was obtained and confirmed as 0.891 for the research tool. The study population was 94 and the sample size was 70 individuals, which was calculated using Cochran's formula and randomly selected. To describe the data, we used components such as mean, standard deviation, variance, median, mode, etc., and in inferential analysis, we used paired t-test. We analyzed the research data with Mini-Tab software 18.

Findings

Findings have shown that teaching recitation and translation of the Holy Quran has improved students' recitation skills and translation knowledge by 30.47. The large distribution of the pre-test with a numerical value of 3.501 proved that the students in the mentioned course are not on the same level in terms of recitation skills and translation knowledge.

Results

Considering the improvement of students' mean scores from about 13 to about 19, we conclude that the implementation of the mentioned educational program has been optimally effective. The high distribution of grades in the pre-test indicates that in the educational planning related to the Holy Quran lesson, the differences in the background of the students should be taken into account
