A Query about Challenges and Factors of Technology Scouting in Iran Telecommunication Operators Industries

Nowadays, timely monitoring and awareness of technological developments, rather than an opportunity window, is an inevitable necessity for organizations. Although there are general models and steps for technology scouting, due to the speed of the changes and the sensitivity of the information and communication industry to technological developments and, of course, Iran special conditions, such as heavy sanctions, technology scouting in this industry need special considerations in developing a monitoring model. This paper, has been done though qualitative method and content analysis based on interviews with this industry stakeholders and experts, by examining past and current approaches, and has studied and recognized the prevailing perspective and influential factors of observation in the Iranian telecom operators industry. According to the existing literature and theoretical models, there are three variables; "environment, organization and technology" that have the most important impact in determining the general model of technology scouting. At the same time, interviews show that along with these variables, the element of "information" is an important and influential variable that forms the real model of scouting in this industry.
