Investigating the sociological causes of the educational progress in police officers’ children: the case of the students in Hamedan and Kurdistan Provinces
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the factors influencing the educational progress of the police force employees’ children. This is a descriptive study in nature. The target population includes the students whose parents are the employee of Hamedan and Kurdistan police force, in 2015. There are 1360 employees all together in the study. Because of the heterogeneity of the population, a sample of 349 employees were selected randomly and proportionally. Considering the theoretical background of the study, the results suggest that all the hypotheses were proven except the 7th one. This means that financial status of the families, educational factors, teachers, hope for the future, and the employment rate in the country influence the educational progress of the students. No meaningful difference was found between the educational progress of male and female students, though. Besides the family status, the educational progress of the children of police force officers depends on a set of other factors which may motivate or discourage the students in their educational progress. Although police officers face numerous problem (such as the kind and the nature of their job) in tackling the educational problems of their children, they should not neglect that one of the most important and fundamental factors of the social development is the educational progress of their children.
