Design and Fabrication of a Uniform Leaky Wave Antenna for X-band Applications
In this paper, a uniform leaky wave with ultra-low side-lobe-level is designed and fabricated for X-band applications. The proposed antenna is a rectangular waveguide that a continuous slot with a specified pattern is created on its wide wall. First, a rectangular waveguide with a straight slot in the center of its wide wall has been simulated in the full wave CST software, and the electric field intensity on slot was read and stored using a probe. Then, gradually, the slot from the center to the end of the wall was transmitted and to read and store the intensity of the electric field was repeated at each stage. Using the electric field intensity database, a slot pattern has been proposed that allows side-lobe-level lower than -50 dB in this type of antenna. The proposed antenna was fabricated after simulation and ensure its performance, and its performance parameters were measured. Comparison of measurement and simulation results shows that there is a good match between them.
