The Impact of Training Intervention on Social Undermining and Work Engagement of Head Nurses In Isfahan Hospitals.

Abstract:
Introduction

The actions of organization managers to reduce the negative effects of social interactions are essential to facilitate the development of human resources. This study aimed toinvestigate the effect of training intervention on social undermining and work engagement of head nurses in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences.

Methods

The present research method was an experimental study using pre-test, post-test ,and follow up, with intervention and control groups. The statistical population consisted of all hospital head nurses of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in 2020. 30 people who had the inclusion criteria for the study were selected and randomly assigned to intervention and control groups (15 individuals for each group). Individuals in both groups initially completed social undermining and work engagement questionnaires as a pre-test. Then, the experimental group received social undermining training in 8 sessions, but the control groups received no intervention. At the end of the period as a post-test and 45 days later as a follow-up, the subjects of both groups completed the same questionnaires. Data were analyzed by SPSS 16 software and multivariate analysis of covariance.

Results

There was a significant difference between the mean score of the control group and the intervention group in social undermining and work engagement and dimensions of both variables in the post-test and follow-up stage (P<0.001). According to the increase in follow-up score compared to post-test in social undermining variable and its reduction in work engagement variable, there is no stability in the effects of training intervention.

Conclusions

Findings showed that educational intervention has been effective in reducing social undermining and increasing the work engagement and its dimensions of the hospital head nurses of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences.
