Applications of Geographic Information System in Police Prevention of Home Theft in Hot sopots (Case Study of Qazvin City)

The present study has been conducted with the aim of recognizing the applications of GIS in police prevention of residential burglary in crime hotspots of the city of Qazvin. The occurrence time of the crimes and the spatial distribution of the crime scenes in different parts of the city were evaluated and the information was prepared as a database. Then, using statistical tests of center deviation of standard ellipse, estimating kernel density and graphics in Arc GIS, Case environment Qazvin crime hotspots were identified. As a result, after studying the results of the above tests, the most important crime hotspots in Qazvin were identified and their maps, tables and diagrams were prepared. The results indicate that the most important centers of residential burglary in Qazvin are located, in order, in the University Neighborhood - Ghiasabad, Tohid - Padgan, Punak - Mahdieh - Mulla Sadra, Hadiabad and Old Tehran - Rahe Rey, each having their own characteristics.In order to prevent residential burglaries in Qazvin, it seems that prioritizing law enforcement, social and judicial policies and programs, increasing citizens' awareness with the aim of prevention, paying attention to the observance of protection principles and security in residential buildings by the owners, the use of new technologies in the fight against burglary, increasing the physical presence of the police in the neighborhoods, more control of the entrances and exits of the city and equipping Qazvin police centers with GIS system should be a priority for the police and judicial officials of the city.
