Investigation of spatial configuration of traditional cities bazaars based on space syntax (Case study: Qazvin traditional bazaar)
Bazaar, as the main economic and social center of the traditional Iranian city, has undergone various changes and transformations, but today it is also considered as a community-oriented space. Spatial configuration, which deals with how spaces are arranged next to each other and their interrelationships with each other, is effective in improving the quality and function of architectural and urban spaces. Therefore, the main purpose of this research was to study the spatial configuration of traditional markets in cities based on the technique of arranging space as a community-oriented space that has vitality, which has been evaluated in the traditional market of Qazvin. The present research was applied-developmental research based on the nature and subject matter as well as being combination of simulation and descriptive-explanatory methods based on research method. After collecting data and information, depth map and space syntax theory had been used to analyze them to understand the effect of spatial-physical configuration of the case study. The results indicated that the market order due to having a pivotal system, long lines of view are highly interconnected, thus enhancing the configuration and enhancing community interactions. Also, by placing four souks at the intersection of the two rows of the main market, it transforms the concave space resulting from the intersection into a convex space and increases the social function of the market.
